Most of my Dhamma experience comes from Tibetan Buddhism in my home town. I gained some great friends and enjoyed my time in Vajrayana. The original teachings of the buddha always called to me, so from this I made friends with the local Wat, who are of the Pathumrungsi Watthanarum in Bangkok. Being a small community of Thai monks I am able to have more private teachings from them in exchange for helping teach them english.
My practice originally started with basic samatha from online sources. I then joined the local Tibetan Buddhist organisation and took refuge eventually. In the back of my mind I always found the original teachings of the Buddha more appealing and seemed more straight forward. I found some teachings in vajrayana a bit to esoteric for my liking. Through listening to the Guru viking podcast I learnt about Dhammarato and made contact. Around the same time I made friends with the local Thai monks and visit the temple regularly.
