The temple was built in 1998 by Wat Thai Buddhagaya in Bihar, India, with the support of the Royal Thai Government and the Thai Buddhist community. The temple has a replica of the Mahaparinirvana Stupa, which marks the spot where the Buddha passed away, and a reclining Buddha statue that depicts his last posture
