The Po Jama Sangha was founded in 1998. Tom Duva and Mike Geres are founding members of the Po Jama Sangha. Mike and Tom are Dharma Teachers, receiving Dharma transmission (Authority to teach ) from Ven. Thich Tri Hoang of Dharma teacher Order. The Order is part of the Lieu Quan/ Lam Te (Linji) lineage of Vietnamese Zen.
Tom is also a core member of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh’s Order of Interbeing, and in the last few years attending retreats with Thay Doji his meditation teacher in France.
Mike & Tom have both attended many training events, as well as numerous retreats & Days of Mindfulness offered by Dharma Teacher’s such as Thich Nhat Hanh, Noah Levine & Joanne Friday. They are mentors as part of BAUS , a program the offers study and practice of Buddhist teachings to those who are incarcerated, as well as working with people suffering from addiction.
