The Sanghapadipa Temple Wales is a branch of Wat Buddhapadip in London and is the first Thai temple in Wales. It was initiated by the Venerable Phra Rajpawana Wimon, abbot of Wat Buddhapadip (his last ecclesiastical title was Phra Thep Phawana Mongkol Wi), who wanted to have Thai temples in three countries: Wat Buddhapadip in England, Wat Dhammapadip in Scotland, and Wat Sanghapadipa in Wales, even though the three countries have now come together as the United Kingdom (United of Great Britain).
Sangkhapatip Temple was established with the following objectives:
1. To be a center of Thai Buddhists in Wales.
2. To be a place for practicing Vipassana meditation for interested Buddhists
. 3. To be a center for spreading Thai arts, traditions and culture.
4. To instill morality in Thai-Welsh youth.
5. To be a center for learning about Buddhism for both Thais and interested foreigners.
