	Plank Trail Sangha Park Forest IL info@meditat		The Prairie Sangha is a community of practitioners in the Theravada Buddhist tradition of Vipassana (or "Insight") meditation. Our group was established in 1990 by Sandra Hammond, a graduate of the first Community Dharma Leaders program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. After Sandra moved to Colorado in 2005, the Prairie Sangha became a peer-led community. Instruction is available in the ancient, non-religious form of meditation called Vipassana, as it was taught by the Buddha 2600 years ago. The practice facilitates balanced awareness, which is grounded in the present moment, with an emphasis on bringing mindfulness and compassion into our daily lives. Each sangha has a schedule of group sits. The Dhamma is seeing clearly the true nature of all things. Waking up to the Dhamma in our daily lives is the core of practice and the focus of our classes. Through teachings, discussion, and introspection, we investigate what really matters in our own lives. Days of Mindfulness are generally held on Sundays and run anywhere from four to eight hours, and are usually organized to include periods of walking and sitting meditations, meals, and a Dhamma talk. Periodically we have two-day Weekend Retreats, and there is an annual four day retreat. All are welcome to participate. 	Zen Center of Bloomington Bloomington IN info@meditat		The Sanshin Zen Community was incorporated as an organization in 1996 by Shohaku Okumura after serving as the interim abbot of the Minnesota Zen Meditation Center since 1992. He chose the name sanshin (三心, sanshin), meaning "three minds", in reference to Eihei Dogen's teaching from the Tenzo Kyōkun of the three minds a Zen student should cultivate: magnanimous mind, parental mind, and joyful mind. However, the following year the Sōtō-shumucho, the administrative body of Sōtō Zen in Japan, asked Okumura to head the Soto Zen Education Center in San Francisco, to which he agreed, delaying his plans to found his own temple. While still serving in that position, his friend and Buddhist Studies scholar John McRae, recommended locating his temple in Bloomington, Indiana. By 2002 land had been purchased and a local architect employed to design a combined zendo and living space for the Okumura family.[2]
