	Awakening Heart Sangha Bartlett IL [email protected]		The Awakening Heart Sangha is a group of people dedicated to the Buddhist practice of mindfulness. Mindfulness is the process of awakening to each moment so that we might experience life in deeper and more meaningful ways. If we can be present in each moment, we will have the ability to see things as they really are, which in turn will water the seeds of joy and peace within us. The primary instrument used to cultivate mindfulness is the simple, yet profound practice of following our breath. There are no obligations for participating in our weekly sessions. You need not be a Buddhist and there are no expectations for attendance. Presence of each participant is regarded as a gift to the Sangha, for which it is grateful. The Awakening Heart Sangha offers those interested in mindful living an opportunity to deep their practice through meditation, mindful discussion and listening, and interaction with other practitioners. The Awakening Heart Sangha meets every Monday at 7 p.m. at The Center in <a href="http://www.awakeningheartsangha.org/dir.htm">Bartlett, IL</a>. Each meeting consists of an hour of meditation - combining both sitting and walking meditation in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. We follow this hour of meditation with a Dharma discussion. 	Great Plains Zen Center Barrington IL [email protected].		The Great Plains Zen Center offers Zen training for both beginning and experienced practitioners. Students at Great Plains Zen Center enjoy the opportunity to participate in weekly practice, 3 - 7 day retreats ("sesshin"), classes and workshops held throughout the year, and intensive, residential training each summer. GPZC distributes a monthly newsletter, The Sangha Letter, at official events. GPZC's literary journal, The Buffalo's Tail, is published 1 - 2 times per year and is available by subscription. Our location in the northwest suburbs of Chicago is wheelchair accessible and people with special needs are welcome.
	Natural Buddhist Meditation Tem Burbank IL [email protected]		The Natural Buddhist Meditation Temple of Greater Chicago is located in Burbank, about a half-an-hour drive from the city of Chicago. The temple is run by a Thai Buddhist community. It is beautifully decorated, with two large golden Buddha statues in their prayer room, that are surely awe-worthy. The monks are dressed in orange robes and conduct regular prayer sessions. It is a smaller and more intimate temple, great for newcomers from the Thai Buddhist community. The backyard has some beautiful greenery and is a peaceful backdrop for meditation sessions.
	Padma Center Belvidere IL [email protected]		Chagdud Gonpa is an international Nyingma Buddhist organization, founded by <a href="http://www.tibetantreasures.com/tthtml/ctr2.htm">H.E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche</a>, who was a highly realized meditation master, artist and Tibetan physician. Chagdud Rinpoche fled his native land in 1959. After coming to the US in 1979, he founded Chagdud Gonpa Foundation. He attained parinirvana on November 17, 2002.
