Chögyal Namkhai Norbu was born on the eighth day of the tenth month of the Earth-Tiger year (8 December 1938) in the village of Geug in Derge, East Tibet . He was recognised as the reincarnation of Adzam Drugpa, one of the great Dzogchen Masters of the early part of the twentieth Century, when he was two years old. Adzam Drugpa was a disciple both of Jamyang Khyentsei Wangpo (1820-1892) the first Khyentsei Rinpoche, and Paltrul Rinpoche (1808-1881). Adzam Drugpa was a terton, a discoverer of hidden treasure texts, receiving visions directly from Jigmed Lingpa (1730-1798).
Mariusz, there are many types of termas and pure visions and dream teachings. You can read the excellent book on terma by Tulku Thundop. Internet is not the best place for validating terma or tertons. He was referring to something specific. Both ChNNR & his root guru have been validated as great masters by some of the greatest Dzogchen masters of 20th Century as great teachers. If you have not validated their terma or teaching credentials, then the best way to avoid unnecessary obstacles in this life time's practice for all of us is to be conservative and careful and follow the teachers we have confidence in. Best wishes.
Dzogchen masters I know say: 1)Buddhist religion essence is Dzogchen 2)Religions are positive by intent/fruit 3)Any method's OK unless: breaking Dzogchen vows, mixed as syncretic (Milanese Soup) 4)Don't join mandalas of opponents of Dalai Lama/Padmasambhava: False Deity inventors by encouraging victims 5)Don't debate Ati with others 6)Don't discuss Ati practices online 7) A master told his old disciple: no one's to discuss his teaching with some others on a former forum nor mention him. Publicity's OK, questions are asked from masters/set teachers in person/email/non-public forums~Best wishes
