The Rochester Zen Center is a Buddhist training center where men and women may practice daily Zen meditation, hear teishos (Zen commentaries), and take part in ceremonies and intensive retreats. Under the careful guidance of Sensei Bodhin Kjolhede (Abbot and Dharma successor of Roshi Philip Kapleau) and/or his senior students, trainees participate in all the aspects of traditional Zen training, including:
* A full daily schedule of sitting zazen
* Zen chanting
* Work practice
* Teishos (zen commentaries) by the teacher and talks by a senior member
* Private instruction (dokusan)
* Instructional talks and other special guidance
* Intensive meditation retreats (2-day, 4-day or 7-day sesshins).
Introductory workshops and training programs are scheduled regularly.
