User Profile
Sumedharama is a Buddhist Monastery in the Theravada tradition, located a short distance from the town of Ericeira in Portugal. The monastery, established in 2018, is inspired by Ajahn Sumedho. In 1975 Ajahn Sumedho, following the instruction of his teacher Ajahn Chah (1918-1992), started the first monastery for non-Thai people. And since 1975 many monasteries have been established by non-Thais in Europe, Australasia, and North and South America and in Thailand itself, all following what they feel is the practice and spirit of Wat Nong Pah Pong and the Thai branch monasteries as they were when Ajahn Chah lived.
